Screen Room Divider – A cloth screen provides a temporary divider in a room, or it can be used to camouflage areas that you prefer to keep private. Making your own screen allows you to customize the size and fabric to match your needs and current decorating scheme. The PVC pipe is a fast way to form the basic structure without the need for tools or carpentry skills. The PVC pipe is available in pre-cut lengths, or you can quickly cut custom pipes with a PVC pipe-cutting tool.
Cut two panels of the fabric with scissors. Make each panel 6 1/2 feet by 1 foot. Fold the long sides of the fabric plus 1/4 of an inch, then fold them over a second time so that the raw edges of the fabric. Fold the top and bottom 1 3/4 inches of each panel over pockets bar form. Fold the edge under 1/4 inch and sew along the fold with your sewing machine. Iron each panel, smoothing out any wrinkles.
Place a PVC elbow on each end of the 6-foot, 1-inch PVC pipe. Place the 1-foot tubes through the top and bottom pockets on one of the fabric panels. Attach a three-way PVC connector to the end of each 1-foot tube. Place a second 6-foot tube on the three-way connectors to finish the frame for the first panel of the screen.
