Full size loft bed with futon – The train and header construction of a simple standard bed frame will not work for a futon mattress. This is because a futon lacks internal structure. It will warp through the gaps between the lanes. For a work futon bed, it should be compatible with the mattress throughout its length. Fortunately for the do-it-yourself, this type of platform frame is much simpler than a rail layout. Set aside an afternoon for this project.
Sand all sides of your wood until they are soft enough to make your hand work comfortably. Paint all the faces of your wood. Use long, even strokes that start at one end of the plate and the end at the other end. A high-gloss black paint can give your lacquered wood an appearance that calls for images of traditional Japanese furniture.
Set two of your beams on the ground, parallel and with their outer edges 77 inches apart. Arrange them with their ends aligned. Adjust the third beam on the ground centered between the two outer beams. The three beams should sleep on the narrow edges, 2 inches wide. Establish a table below perpendicular to the beams. Its outer edge should line up with the ends of the beams, and the beams should overlap by one inch on each side.
